Digital language assistance

Support in your preferred language.

VCC helps participants and families facing English-language barriers communicate, ask questions and understand information about their supports. Digital language assistance can be discussed for suitable virtual engagements across Australia.

Written information

Available digital text translation tools support over 200 languages. Suitable reports, letters and summaries can be translated, with the language, format and purpose confirmed first. Supported document formats include DOCX, PDF, PPTX and XLSX, up to 10 MB; PDFs can be up to 300 pages. Text inside images or scanned PDF pages may need separate preparation.

Video meeting captions

Available technology supports 69 language options for translated on-screen subtitles. Captions display written translations of speech; they do not provide spoken interpreting in all those languages.

Spoken translation

Where available and suitable, spoken translation supports English paired with French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish. It has a short delay, uses one language pair at a time and has a 90-minute limit per meeting. Adult eligibility, supported devices and account availability are checked first.

Your options are confirmed before work begins

Tell us your preferred language. We confirm the language pair, meeting setup, availability, suitability, agreed scope and fees. Features and supported languages can change. NDIS funding is checked for the actual activity and is not automatic.

Medical reports and accuracy

Translation between languages is separate from VCC’s plain-language explanation of medical terminology and evidence organisation. Automated translations can contain errors and are not certified translations or a substitute for a qualified interpreter. Important clinical meaning needs qualified language checking before it is used for treatment, medication or consent decisions. Keep the original report as the reference.

Your information and choice

Before any third-party translation tool is used, we explain the proposed tool, information involved, privacy arrangements and limitations, and obtain your informed agreement. Ask about other communication options.

Start with a brief enquiry or call 0459 173 805. Tell us your preferred language; leave medical records and sensitive participant details out of the initial form.
